Script Supervisor

Key responsibilities

• Pre-production: Reviewing the script to break it down for other departments, noting required elements like costumes, props, locations, and time of day.

• During filming:

  • Monitoring on-set activity to ensure actors stay on script and actions match.
  • Using a stopwatch to time scenes and record details for each take, including camera and lens information.
  • Maintaining a daily report for the director, editor, and other supervisors.
  • Keeping detailed written and photographic records of all aspects of each scene.
• Continuity: Ensuring that when different takes are edited together, the film is consistent and makes sense. This includes tracking changes to the script or story that may occur during production.
• Communication: Serving as a vital link between the set and the editing room by providing the editor with the detailed notes and records needed to assemble the final product.
